Day 4 of the trip, the 2nd day in Olympic, we aimed for Port Angeles and promised to stop wherever we felt like on the way.
I wanted to stop by Ruby Beach again to see if the clouds were clear and I'd get a sunny beach. Sadly, cloud cover prevented that, but the tide was retreating and we got a chance to look at some of the creatures in the tide pools:
Of course, as soon as we left, the skies cleared up:
Our next stop was the Hoh Rainforest - what a stunning sight. Of course, I had to break out the macro lens at least once:
But I digress, isn't this beautiful?
Look at this crystalline water:
This "phone booth" gave me the giggles:
From there, we passed through 'Twilight' territory into Forks, and past it to La Push/First Beach. Years after Twilight-mania took over this poor quiet town, it seems to have calmed down. There's definitely references in the area - but I'm sure it was much much worse when the books/movies were coming out.
Look at this sea star!
We scrambled like goats on to these rocks (L got his boulder hopping opportunity) and enjoyed watching the waves splash nearby:
We ended up in Port Angeles for the night but I spied that that night would have the potential for a great sunset. We ended up in a residential area with a great view:
We headed back for dinner and planning Olympic Day 3 - so much more to see!
